Experience Life as a Teacher with Our School Experience Days

Our School Experience Days give you the chance to spend time in one of our partner schools across Wigan and the North West. Whether you’re exploring the idea of becoming a teacher or preparing to submit your teacher training application, these half‑day sessions offer a genuine insight into life in the classroom.

The day will run from 10:00am until 1:00pm.

What Is a School Experience Day?

A School Experience Day allows you to experience real school life first hand. You’ll spend time observing lessons, speaking to staff, and learning more about the role of a teacher. This is a valuable opportunity for anyone considering Initial Teacher Training and can strengthen your application.

 

What’s Included (10am – 1pm)

During your visit, you will:

✔ Enjoy a guided tour of the school

✔ Observe lessons led by experienced teachers

✔ Speak with senior leaders about the profession and what schools look for

✔ Meet current or past trainees (where possible) for honest insight

✔ Receive tailored advice on routes into teaching and how to apply

 

Who Can Attend?

These sessions are open to anyone seriously considering a career in teaching, including graduates and final-year university students, career changers looking to move into teaching, exploring their next steps. If you’re thinking about applying for Initial Teacher Training and want real insight into the profession, a School Experience Day is designed for you.

 

Entry Requirements

To take part in a School Experience Day, you must meet the basic eligibility requirements for Initial Teacher Training:

Academic Requirements

  • A relevant Bachelor’s degree at 2:2 or above
    (Predicted grades accepted if you have not yet graduated.)
  • GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above
  • For Primary applicants: an additional GCSE Science at grade C/4 or above

Eligibility

  • The right to study in the UK

On the Day

  • Please bring a valid photo ID for safeguarding and sign-in.
